3 day training tour

Our 3-day training tour is the ideal introduction to showing you the ins and outs of towing your off-road caravan or camper on the dirt, so that you’ll feel more confident when heading out on the bigger journeys.

This tour will give you tuition and experience in techniques for dirt-road and beach driving, in the selection and use of various types of safety equipment, in how to perform thorough vehicle and trailer checks, and in basic mechanical maintenance. You will also get to enjoy some of the best scenery the Mid North Coast has to offer.

Our tour starts in Wauchope NSW, after some introductory training in pre-departure checks and radio etiquette. From here we head for Swans Crossing, where we will spend the first night. Swans Crossing is an idyllic camping ground beside Upsalls Creek, where there are pit toilets but no showers. Whilst enjoying the scenery, we will work through some facets of off-road touring, such as communications, safety equipment, basic vehicle maintenance and how to light a fire without matches. But rest assured, there’ll still be time enough for relaxing beside the creek.

Leaving Swans Crossing, we’ll be back onto the dirt, stopping at Comboyne for morning tea on our way coastward to Discovery Parks, Harrington Beach. Here we’ll have all amenities available.  At Harrington beach, we’ll go through the basics of self-recovery when bogged in sand, before enjoying a beverage on the beach as the sun goes down.

Our third and final day will be spent with some fun driving on the beach, with a bit more recovery training.

While this is not a certified course, your guide is a fully-qualified driving instructor with over 20 years of off-road experience. At the end of day 3 of the tour, all participants will be issued with a certificate of completion. What better way could there be to enjoy the Australian bush and learn a few new skills along the way?
